More forecast choices in SimpleWeather 50.1.0

SimpleWeather 50.1.0 introduced an optional OpenWeatherMap provider, clearer forecast navigation, better server feedback, and four translation updates.

Distribution note: EGO distributes v50.1.1 instead of v50.1.0. Both versions are effectively identical and it does not matter to you which one you have.

Choose your weather provider

Open-Meteo remains the default and still works without an API key. Version 50.1.0 adds OpenWeatherMap as an alternative for people who already use that service.

OpenWeatherMap requires a personal paid API key with the One Call API 3.0 subscription. Keys are not provided with the extension.

Easier location and forecast controls

  • The Edit Location screen now links coordinates to OpenStreetMap, making it easier to check exactly where a saved location points.
  • Carousel dots below the forecast make the current forecast page and the available pages easier to understand.
  • Provider server errors now appear in the weather popup instead of failing without a useful explanation.

Reliability work

This release also fixes two background errors: one that could happen while disabling the extension, and another related to checking the system clock. Neither should have been visible to the end user.
