Note: v51.0.0 has not released as of writing. Expect release in September shortly before GNOME 51 releases.
SimpleWeather has had a lot of work on it swince the last update, and most of it will be noticable in the settings menu.
Layouts
v51 is introducing Layouts. This feature opens up possibilities of a more flexible user interface. As of right now there are two layouts: Default and Classic. Default is the same SimpleWeather experience that has been present since the release, while Classic imitates the look of OpenWeather Refined. When SimpleWeather succeeded OpenWeather Refined, many were disappointed that the old extension was gone. This update brings the GUI experience of OpenWeather Refined back while giving you the performance and stability of SimpleWeather's redesign.

My Location Provider
Thanks to GitHub user @chenxv399, SimpleWeather will now support ip.sb, another location provider. This one has much better accuracy than some of the existing providers and appears to have a friendlier privacy-policy, so I have made it the default going forward.
Search Provider
Previous versions of SimpleWeather were fixed to Nominatim for a search provider. This works great for most users, and I will keep it as the default and continue to recommend it for most users, however it has one major problem: OpenStreetMap is blocked by China's Great Firewall. Again, thanks to @chenxv399, QWeather will be added as an optional search provider. QWeather requires an account, so I have also added Open-Meteo (as a search provider, which was not previously a feature), which is not blocked in China.
I have also changed auto-configuration to configure China separately and auto-select Open-Meteo as the default search provider. Nominatim remains the default for everywhere else.
Weather Provider
@chenxv399 has also added a new weather provider, QWeather, that is accessible in China and reportedly has better weather data within China. QWeather requires an account, meaning that the user must provide their credentials in the settings menu.
For users outside of China, Open-Meteo is still the recommended default. Open-Meteo also remains the default for users from China since it is not blocked by the Great Firewall and requires no account or configuration.

This is not an exhaustive list of changes. These changes also haven't been released yet. Try out these changes yourself in the development version, or wait until September for the next stable release!
